HISTORY
A PLACE WHERE LEGENDARY EVENTS TOOK PLACE
Opened by His Highness, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, to house the first Gulf Cooperation Council Conference for the Gulf States. Since then, the hotel has been home to presidents, royal families, celebrities and captains of industry. The hotel offers an unparalleled stay, the experience of history, Arabian hospitality.
The Past and Present
InterContinental Abu Dhabi was the first hotel in Abu Dhabi to have a stretch of white sandy private beach and pool and a grand ballroom.
The legend continued, and the hotel has maintained its pioneering spirit throughout its 40 years, offering award-winning dining options and comprehensive leisure facilities in an oasis of calm right in the heart of Abu Dhabi.
Built and opened under a great leader's vision
His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan served as President of the United Arab
Emirates since the formation of the Federation on 2 December 1971 and as Ruler of the
Emirate of Abu Dhabi since 1966.
